Semesa Rokoduguni is the stand out name in England’s team to face New Zealand this Saturday as the Fijian winger will make his debut on the right wing.
The 27 year old British Army lance corporal won’t be on his
own as six of his Bath teammates were included in Staurt Lancasters 23 man
squad.
Including Dave Attwood, whose fiancée Bridget gave birth to
their first child on Tuesday, will make his first start at lock since England’s
tour of Argentina in June 2013. While Kyle Eastmond starts in the inside centre
with Saracens Brad Barrett wearing the number 13 shirt in a new look midfield.
With David Wilson continuing his fantastic international
form and the West County side also have Rob Webber, George Ford and the
uncapped Anthony Watson on the bench.
Head Coach Lancaster said “I am delighted for Roko. Wing is
an extremely competitive position, but he has pushed himself forward with his
form this season and it’s great to be able to give him this opportunity.
“Dave Attwood has had an eventful week with the birth of his
first child and congratulations to him and fiancée Bridget. He’s back with us
now and will be ready to go for Saturday.”
In the back row captain Chris Robshaw, Tom Wood and No.8
Billy Vunipola will make this match their seventh straight game as a
combination. Finally, Vunipola’s Sarries teammate lock George Kruis is set to
make his international introduction from the replacement bench.
Lancaster continued “The same is true with Anthony Watson
and George Kruis. I am sure they will contribute should they come off the
bench.”
This will be the first match at Twickenham for England since
beating Ireland 13 – 10 in March and Lancaster can not wait to see and feel the
atmosphere from the fans adding “The atmosphere is superb and the fans really
give us a boost. We can’t wait for the walk from the coach to the changing room
for what will be another great occasion.”
