Carter made his return from a serious injury last weekend
with a 30 minute appearance in the All Blacks 74 – 6 thrashing over the United
States, but Head Coach Steve Hansen doesn’t want to take the risk in a game of
such magnitude. So Aaron Cruden will be wearing the number 10 jersey and will have
Beauden Barrett as cover.
While Sonny Bill Williams will start at inside centre and
will carry on his return back into rugby union after leaving league last month
and will be looking to continue to score more tries having touched down twice
against the USA. Williams will be joined in the centre by the returning Conrad
Smith.
Fullback Isreal Dagg and No.8 Kieran Read will join Cruden
and Williams as the only players retained from international duty five days
ago.
Hansen’s 23 players have a combined total of 1,000 caps
between them. Among the returning to the starting XV are try – scorer Julian
Savea, lock Sam Whitelock and skipper Richie McCaw.
Hansen is looking forward to this opportunity “This test
match is a great opportunity to once again experience the atmosphere of
Twickenham and lay down a marker of where we are currently in relation to our
opponents, England.
“We are extremely excited about this challenge and looking
forward to it immensely.
“Having played England already three times this year, at the
beginning of our season, and again having the opportunity to play them at the
end of the season, will tell us a lot about how much our game has progressed”
added the All Black Head Coach.
