Bath Rugby 21 – 11 Saracens
Bath showed the rest of the Premiership this is the team to
beat by ending Saracens unbeaten start to the season.
Jonathan Joseph and Kyle Eastmond both crossed the try line but
it was a mixed day for Geroge Ford as he scored 11 points, but missed 5 kicks
while Chris Wyles scored the only try for Sarries in the Friday Night Game.
The performances from Joseph and Eastmond were so good,
don’t be surprised to see their partnership take force for England’s Autumn
Internationals.
At the end of the game Bath head coach Mike Ford was
delighted by how his team played “Our defence was awesome and kept knocking
them back and back. It’s always testing to have ball in hand against Saracens
as they put pressure on you, but even then we fired a few shots and scored a
couple of tries.”

Harlequins 52 – 0 London Welsh
It was another hammering for London Welsh as Harlequins run
over sevens tries at the Stoop.
Tries from Mike Brown, Danny Care, Matt Hooper, Penalty,
Karl Dickson and two from winger Marland Yarde while fly – half Nick Evans
firmly had his kicking boots on scoring all seven conversions and a penalty.
It was more of a training game for Quins to help with their
fitness because Welsh were that poor and after five games the Exiles have
conceded 249 points since returning to the Premiership.
An angry Conor O’Shea said after the game “We haven’t
started the season well, but to write us off after four games is pretty
insulting. I don’t care about the results, we have to be willing to fight.
“We’ve got a lot of guys who like a fight and like a
challenge” added the Harlequins director of rugby.

Gloucester Rugby 33 – 16 Leicester Tigers
Leicester have now lost their third game in a row as
Gloucester new signings showed their strength
in front of the Kingsholm faithful.
Nick Wood, Charlie Sharples and Jonny May’s first half tries
were enough for the Cherry and Whites, but they should have secured the bonus
point if only Dan Robson and Sharples communicated better.
It wasn’t a great return for fly – half Freddie Burns as the
visitors could only reply with David Mele try at the end of the match with Owen
Williams scoring 11 points.
Tigers head boss Richard Cockrill swatted away suggestions
his training regime is contributing to his side’s crippling injury list saying
“The lads probably play too much rugby at the top end, but training bit I would
like to nip I the bud.
“I have had some pretty average accusations pointed at how
Leicester trains. We’ve got a really good strength and conditioning team and we
monitor everything with GPS.”

London Irish 12 – 19 Northampton Saints
It was another tight defeat for London Irish as a Luther
Burrell was the difference for Northampton who went home with a win.
Burrell got the only try for the Saints at the end of the
first half while Stephen Myler added 14 points, but in a boring game Irish will
be happy with a losing bonus point to the champions as in form Shane Geraghty
scored all of the Exiles points.
London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith admits running
the champions close was no disaster “They are the best team in England at the
moment, week on week we are earning the respect of our opponents so I think
that’s phase one of us at the moment” added Smith.

Newcastle Falcons 29 – 24 Exeter Chiefs
Newcastle recorded their first victory in 21 Premiership
games, beating in form Exeter at Kingston Park in the final game of the
weekend.
In the most exciting games of the whole round with the lead
changing eight times Falcons showed some steal and determination and tries from
Sinoti Sinoti, Tom Catterick and Noah Cato plus 14 points from the boot of Juan
Pablo Socino.
While his fellow fly – half Gareth Steenson had a poor day
with the boot only able to collect 9 points and tries from Tom Waldrom, Ben White
and Henry Slade went enough as the Chiefs went down to their second defeat this
season.
Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards said his side fully
deserved the victory “I’m delighted for the players that we won and I thought
we deserved it against an outstanding Exeter side.
“We’ve been playing a really good brand of rugby all year a
more expansive game with a view to scoring more tries” added Richards.
