London Welsh 10 – 46 Gloucester Rugby
London Welsh have conceded 197 points since returning to the
Premiership and it didn’t improve on Friday Night losing to Gloucester.
Henry Purdy started things off for the Cherry and Whites getting the first try of the evening and their second came shortly after as Welsh
winger Nick Scott tried to keep their attack alive but he threw the ball into
no mans land.
The loose ball was picked up by fly – half James Hook who
passed to scrum – half Dan Robson, who ran from his own half into the hosts 22
to pass to winger Charlie Sharples to extend the visitors lead.
Justin Burnell men were showing massive improvement from
previous weeks and just before the break they got back into the game after a
driving maul from the lineout was touched down by Ben Pienaar and reduced the
score to 12 – 10.
In the second half Gloucester showed their dominates as Jonny
May made a mockery of the Welsh defence to make it into their 22 and from the ruck
the ball went wide and Mark Atkinson went through the gap to get his first try of
the game.
Atkinson scored his second try and secured the bonus point
for Gloucester as the replacement fly – half showed his pace bursting through the
defence to run from the halfway line to score under the posts.
David Humphreys men got their fifth try as Greig Laidlaws clever chip
over the Exiles defensive line and winger May showed his pace to ground the
ball and the final try was a penalty try to secure another hammering for London
Welsh.

Leicester Tigers 19 – 22 London Irish
It was back-to-back defeats for Leicester Tigers as London
Irish secured their first win at Welford Road for 11 years.
The first try came from a lineout in the hosts 5 metre line
and the rolling maul got over the try line and it was grounded by Halani
‘Aulika and the Exlies went into the break with a 10 point lead.
The momentum seemed to swing Leicester's way after 54 minutes
as winger Niki Goneva popped out of the ruck to score and the conversion from
Freddie Burns brought the sides level at 16 – 16.
Jordan Craine was unfairly sin – binned for the Tigers and
with Shane Geraghty converting the resulting penalty the match finished with
the battle of the boot between Burns and Geraghty and it was latter who came up
on top as Geraghty scored 17 points while Burns only scoring 11 points with the fly –
half missing three kicks.

Saracens 40 – 19 Sale Sharks
Saracens showed why Allianz Park is such a fortress as they
hammered Sale and maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
The first try came in the second minute with fullback Alex
Goode using his quick footwork to skip pass the Sale defence to score under the
posts.
The Sharks got back into the game after their driving maul
pushed the Sarries defence back for David Seymour to score their first try
of the game.
The hosts had a firm grip of the first half with fly-half Charlie
Hodgson scoring 15 points from the boot and two tries the first coming
from a sweeping move from left to right as Hodgson’s long pass to Chris Ashton
who pass to Ernst Joubert who showed his strength to break two tackles to
touchdown.
In the closing minutes of the first half Mark McCall’s men
were dominating the scrum and were awarded a penalty try and Saracens went into
the break 30 – 7 ahead.
The score was too much for Sale to get back, but Steve
Diamond’s men did show pride as they fought back with Tom Brady showing some
skillful footwork to get past David Strettle to score the visitors second try
of the game.
Saracens got the bonus point with replacement prop Richard
Barrington crashing over with 12 minutes to go. However Sale did score their
third try after referee JP Doyle awarded a penalty try but it was too little
too late for the Manchester club.

Exeter Chiefs 36 – 13 Harlequins
This fixture has always been tight, but this time Exeter were the comfortable winners, which left Harlequins coach Conor O’Shea very
unhappy with his teams performance.
The first try for the Chiefs came from number 8 Thomas
Waldrom charging down a Ben Botica kick while Gareth Steenson and Henry Slade
shared the kicking duties and the hosts went into the first half 19 – 6 up.
Quins fought back after the break with winger Asaeli
Tikoirotuma running into open space to score the visitors first try of the game.
However, Rob Baxters men replied with Steenson’s cross field
kick to Phil Dollman who cut inside to send Jack Yeandle bundling his way over
the try line.
The hosts scored their third as Tom James' dazzling footwork
and long pass to Slade, who had acres of space and a simple run to the
try line to score the host final try of the game.

Wasps 35 – 18 Newcastle Falcons
Wasps finished the weekend off with a comfortable victory
over the Falcons.
Newcastle were in the lead thanks to Juan Pablo Socino penalty but the
host got the opening try with passing down the left flank it was Elliot Daly’s
clever offload to set up winger Tom Varndell to run under the posts.
James Gaskell got his first try in Wasps colours as flanker
Ashley Johnson ran into the visitors defence to open a gap and it was the South
Africans offload to the England lock to score, but just before half time
Newcastle got back into the game as their scrum-half Ruki Tipuna picked the
ball up from the ruck and spun to the try line to score for his new club.
Into the second half Wasps upped the pressure with two penalties from Andy Goode and Johnson
was on hand again as his blazing run to the Falcons 22 to offload to Varndell who score his second try of the game.
Dai Youngs men won the bonus point after replacement winger
Christian Wade tackled and got the turnover to feed fullback Rob Miller, who
ran from the halfway line to score his first try of the season for his new
club.
Wade was then sent to the sin – bin as his attempted
interception was knocked forward and the referee awarded a penalty try to the
visitors.
Newcastles drought continues as this was their 20th
defeat in a row.
